Big Sur + Sequoia trip!

I never shared images from our trip (exactly a year ago) to Big Sur and Sequoia. We went camping in Big Sur with our good friends Sonny and Nicholle and then drove across to Sequoia and stayed in an Airbnb in the middle of the woods. It was such a blast I thought it’d be fun to look back on it here. Two things that were really special about this trip: Sonny proposed to Nicholle on one of our hikes in Big Sur and we got to photograph it all(it was seriously the cutest proposal ever) and this was the trip where I suspected I might be pregnant. I had anticipated getting my period on this trip and much to my dismay, it never came! I was so anxious to get home and take a test. The test came back negative but two weeks later we got a positive test! The nurse I had talked to said that the first couple weeks of being pregnant won’t actually show up on a test right away so although I had missed my period and it showed up negative on the pee test, I was still pregnant. Weird right? Anywho, here are photos from our trip. I can’t wait to go back! The weather was kind of crappy for most of the trip but it was still a ton of fun. I haven’t been camping since I was a little kid so camping out in the woods and sleeping on the ground brought back memories. It was definitely more painful then I remember haha.

One thing that we were unaware of in Big Sur was the lack of cell service we’d have as well as the lack of grocery stores! We had every intention of stopping at Costco beforehand but ultimately decided to just hit up a grocery store when we got closer to the campground. Little did we know there were only two little gas stations nearby and they marked up the price of food to a ridiculous amount. Lesson learned, go food shopping before you leave for Big Sur!

We went hiking on one of the trails behind our campground and this was right when Sonny proposed to Nicholle! Aaron helped Sonny create a story book of sorts with a recorded narration of it so at the end of each page it would beep to turn the page(doesn’t that bring back memories of reading books in elementary school??) and at the end of it he proposed. It was super cute and unique.

Then we drove a couple hundred miles east to Sequioa for a few days! It was definitely a little eery. There was fog the entire time and we barely saw anyone! There was absolutely zero service as well which made it really nice to take a break from the outside world for a bit.
